ROCKLAND — U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine says the Navy will send two ships to visit Rockland during the 63rd Annual Maine Lobster Festival in August. The vessels include the USS Gunston Hall and the USS Hurricane.

Snowe says the ships’ visit will be an even greater draw for Mainers and others attending the lobster festival.

The Gunston Hall was named in honor of the plantation home of George Mason. The ship carries the Landing Craft Air Cushion.

The Hurricane is the third Cyclone class patrol coastal boat. Its crew includes four officers, 24 enlisted and eight Special Forces personnel.
