SKOWHEGAN — A New Portland man who pleaded guilty to the beating death of his employer in June 2007 has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

A Somerset County Superior Court judge imposed the sentence on Jeffrey LaGasse today, two weeks after LaGasse pleaded guilty to murdering 50-year-old Louise Brochu.

Brochu’s body was found at her home and business along Route 27 in June of 2007. LaGasse had worked for Brochu at her flooring business and lived nearby.

Police say LaGasse gave several different accounts of where he was on the night she died. He pleaded guilty under an agreement with prosecutors.
