Cape Elizabeth erupted for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and went on for a 5-1 win over Yarmouth to win the Western Maine Class B baseball title Wednesday night at St. Joseph’s College.

The top-ranked Capers (18-1) advanced to Saturday’s state title game where they will play Waterville at Mansfield Stadium in Bangor at 11 a.m.

Kyle Danielson’s bases clearing triple was the big hit for Cape in the sixth. The Capers had already scored two runs. The teams split two games during the regular season, each winning on the other’s field. No. 2 Yarmouth (17-2) scored a run in the top of the seventh as Travis Merrill tripled home a run .
