BRUNSWICK — A woman abandoned her pickup truck and escaped injury after her vehicle got stuck in the path of a train today, according to police.

Abigail Marsh, 19, of Brunswick failed to stop behind the white line that deliniates the railroad track area at Cooks Corner around 10:30 a.m., according to Commander Kevin Schofield. Marsh, who was driving a 2009 Dodge pickup, got trapped between the automated gates around the tracks, he said.

The Maine Eastern Railroad train was unable to stop and the truck was totaled, Schofield said. No one was injured, he said.

Marsh was summonsed for parking on railroad tracks and driving after suspension, Schofield said.

Traffic around Route 24, also known as Gurnet Road, was tied up for about half an hour, Schofield said.
