PORTLAND — GRIT MCDF? PATS PIZA? LONG BOOK? HANA FORD?
The good news: the marketing space on the Time & Temperature Building’s very prominent electronic sign is available for lease.
The bad news: There are only two spots for words, and each spot is limited to four characters or less.
The sign is visible from much of Portland atop the 14-story building. It flashes four times in a cycle: four-character word, four-character word, the time and the temperature.
It has been flashing WMTW NEWS for years, but that stopped recently when the TV station decided to drop the marketing agreement. A five-day rental now has “BOAT SHOW” flashing across the city’s skyline.
In the winter, “SNOW BAN” is sometimes displayed by the city.
The lease would cost about $3,000 a month, said Nate Stevens, an associated broker with Greg Boulos of CB Richard Ellis/The Boulos Co., which manages the building for 477 Time and Temp LLC.
The owner is willing to lease the space for short-term promos, but a long-term lease is ideal, said Stevens. It’s not actively marketing the lease, but has already had some interest in the space.
No matter what, the time and temp must be part of the flashing lineup.
“We’d have to change the name of the building if they didn’t do time and temp,” said Stevens.
