YARMOUTH — The U.S. Postal Service says it will be offering a special postmark that celebrates the annual Yarmouth Clam Festival in Maine.

At this year’s festival from July 16-18, people are invited to bring a stamped envelope and have it postmarked by post office staff who will set up on a lawn outside North Yarmouth Academy on Main Street. The postmarks will be available from 4-8 p.m. on July 16 and from noon to 5 p.m. on July 17.

The postmark shows a clam and the giant elm in Yarmouth named “Herbie” that grew to be the largest American elm in New England before being cut down in January.
