Time change for parade

The Fourth of July Parade is scheduled for 4 p.m. this year, rather than 10 a.m., on Sunday.

The parade includes floats, marching groups, bands, people in costume, kids and more. Trophies will be awarded for the best entry. The parade is presented by Freeport Community Services.

 

Folklore, ice cream social

Auricolae Fairy Tales, Folklore and Fables, Story-telling and Ice Cream Social will be held beginning at 6:15 p.m. Thursday at the Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot Road.

Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family. The social includes Ben and Jerry’s ice cream with stories and music for children. David Yang, with Rachel Noyes, violin, and Benjamin Noyes, on cello, will entertain. For details, call 761-4639.

The Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake is presenting “West Side Story” starting Friday through July 18.

Summer events at library

The Scarborough Public Library summer story time will hold a one-time “Books at the Beach” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Higgins Beach Clubhouse, 49 Greenwood Ave.

Youth services librarian Travis Tschacher and staff will celebrate the summer reading program with stories, songs and a few surprises.

Family story time will be offered at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesdays beginning July 7. Toddler Tuesdays will run from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. for ages 18 months and older, accompanied by an adult, followed by Baby Tuesdays from 11:15 to 11:45 a.m. for ages from birth through 18 months.
