University of Maine women’s hockey names North Dakota assistant as coach
Maria Lewis has been named the new head coach of the University of Maine women’s hockey program, the university announced on Friday.
Lewis has been an assistant for the past three years with the University of North Dakota, and was a recruiter for the Sioux.
She also served as a volunteer assistant at Maine during the 1999-2000 season and was an assistant at Mercyhurst from 2000-2006, including the 2005-2006 season when she was associate head coach.
Lewis, a 1999 graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, will begin her duties Monday. She replaces Dan Lichterman, who resigned in April after three seasons.
