AUGUSTA — Dozens of farms are opening their gates across Maine to give the public a firsthand look to learn about farming.
Farms in all 16 counties are participating in today’s Open Farm Day, now in its 21st year.
During the day, farms offer activities including milking and felting demonstrations, berry-picking, hay rides and tours. They’ll also have farm-raised products on sale.
The Maine Department of Agriculture says most of the farms have visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A list of participating farms is available at http://getrealmaine.com.
