Jessa Merrill, a legislative correspondent for U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe in Washington, D.C., is one of the “50 Most Beautiful People 2010” on Capitol Hill.

The Hill, a daily newspaper and website that covers the Capital, published its yearly list today.

Merrill, 23, is a Kennebunkport native, a Republican and single, according to The Hill website.

Though new to the Capital, she’s also adept at spotting Secret Service agents, largely because Kennebunkport has long been the summer home of former President George H.W. Bush.

Merrill worked summers at a tourist shop in town, where she often saw the Bush family’s black motorcades and law enforcement agents assigned to protect dignitaries, according to the website.

“We always knew who the Secret Service was because it would be an odd pairing of men: one really older guy, one younger guy, always wearing an interesting outfit, like a simple sweatshirt,” Merrill told The Hill. “They’d just get off duty and want to buy their families a souvenir, and you could just tell, because it’s not a natural pairing of men.”
