SCARBOROUGH — The Maine Police and Fire store will remain closed for several days while Scarborough police try to determine who entered the Route 1 store and ransacked it.
Police said the inside walls and doors had been spray painted with messages about killing animals. Merchandise was also spray painted. A television was smashed and glass display cases were shattered.
Blue paint was poured over several guns and cross bows, boxes of ammunition were dumped on the floor, and desks were overturned.
The store, which sells police and fire equipment, sustained between $60,000 and $75,000 in damages.
The owner of the business at 715 Route 1 discovered the damage on Monday.
The case remains under investigation. The store won’t reopen until Aug. 3.
