LEBANON — An unidentified school bus crashed into a passenger vehicle in Lebanon and pushed the car off the road before leaving the scene earlier today.
Jason A. Cole, Lebanon’s Assistant Rescue Chief, said the incident took place around noon today on the Carl Broggi Highway in Lebanon. The school bus did not stop after striking a 1996 Buick Century in its rear end.
The car which was occupied by two Massachusetts women ended up in some brush. Both women were wearing seat belts. They were treated at the scene by rescue workers, but did not need to be hospitalized.
Maine State Police contacted Maine School Administrative District 60 in North Berwick, but the district said it did not have school buses in the area at the time of the crash. State Police are not sure if it was a passing bus or a retired school bus. Troopers are looking for a bus with front end damage.
Cole said the Buick was destroyed in the collision.
Anyone with information concerning the crash is asked to contact Trooper Thomas Conville at 657-3030.
