PORTLAND — Two cruise ships carrying more than 2,000 passengers are due in Portland this week.
Today, the Celebrity Summit arrives for a day in port before heading for Bar Harbor and two Canadian ports. The recently refurbished ship, carrying 1,900 passengers, is scheduled to visit the Port of Portland eight times this year.

On Friday, the Independence arrives as part of its eight-day cruise along the Maine coast and departs Saturday. The Independence’s home port is Portland.
