AUGUSTA — Businesses and individuals with a valid Maine vehicle registration can order a replacement registration certificate online through the state’s official website, www.Maine.gov or at www.maine.gov/online/bmv/drr, Bureau of Motor Vehicles officials said in a news release.

The service costs $3, payable by credit card.

Previously, citizens had to request a duplicate registration using a paper form at a motor vehicle branch or municipal office during normal business hours. With the online service, citizens can submit a duplicate registration request 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The $3 fee is processed through Maine.gov’s secure payment system. Duplicate registration certificates are mailed by the BMV and typically received within seven days.

The online service is available to anyone holding a valid Maine vehicle registration, including residents of all Maine municipalities and nonresidents such as students and military personnel.
