LEBANON — A thunderstorm packing powerful winds blew through the Flat Rock Bridge Family Resort campground in Lebanon tonight, toppling trees and injuring six campers.
One of the campers, a 10-year-old girl, was seriously injured after a tree landed on her tent and pinned her. She was in critical condition, according to Jason Cole, Lebanon’s Assistant Rescue Chief.
Cole said the remaining group of injured campers – the girl’s parents and siblings – were transported by ambulance to Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H., where they were treated and released for minor injuries.
The little girl was eventually taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland, Cole said.
About a dozen large trees fell during the storm. The campground remained opened for business.
The National Weather Service said it may send someone to the campground on Tuesday to investigate whether the storm was a tornado or a microburst.
