LEWISTON — Police are calling an apparent accidental drowning of a 10-month-old boy in Lewiston a tragic accident.
Maine State Police Lt. Brian McDonough told the Sun Journal of Lewiston that Rene Cloutier died Sunday at a Portland hospital after life support was removed.
Police say Cloutier’s mother, Natasha Bean, was giving the infant a bath Saturday night when she was interrupted by a neighbor and left the boy unattended for a few minutes. When she returned, the boy was underwater.
The infant was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston before being transferred to Maine Medical Center, where he was placed on life support.
