The Gorham U9 Cal Ripken League All-Stars recently won the double-elimination state tournament at Sabattus.
Kyle King struck out 14 in the team’s opener, a 5-4 extra-inning win over Skowhegan.
Gorham went on to beat Andy Valley West 12-6 and Gardiner 14-1 before a rematch with Skowhegan in the final, which Gorham won 13-3 in five innings.
In the championship game, Ryan Norris, Kevin Mollison, Ben Nelson, Trevor Loubier and Trevor Gray played well defensively, while Jayden Gaudreau, Brogan MacDonald, Simon Roussel and Jacob Yahm were offensive contributors.
Jamie Godin scored a hole in one Aug. 8 at Fox Ridge Golf Course in Auburn. Godin used a wedge to make the 89-yard shot on the 13th hole. Linda Gross, Kathy Emmi and Sue Dostie were witnesses.
