Harpist kicks off chamber music fest

THE 17TH SEASON of the Portland Chamber Music Festival opens tonight with a concert featuring an often-unheralded musical instrument: the harp. Tonight’s program stars soloist Bridget Kibbey. The festival continues with a concert on Saturday, a children’s concert on Sunday and two more performances next week.

Minter, Harper exhibit opening tonight

THE BACKSTAGE GALLERY at Deertrees Theatre opens “Beyond the Waves,” an exhibition by artists Daniel Minter of Portland and Terence Harper of New York, tonight. The show draws on themes from the African-American experience across time and space.
