ALFRED — One man has been pronounced dead after an accident involving a
motorcycle and car this afternoon on Route 111 in Alfred.
The accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. when a woman driving a 2010
Chevy Equinox made a left turn onto Route 111 as a motorcycle with two
passengers was traveling west on the road, Maine State Trooper Kevin
Rooney said.
Rooney declined to identify the driver of the motorcycle who died,
pending notification of family members. The woman who was the passenger
on the motorcycle was transported to Maine Medical Center with abdominal
and chest injuries. The woman in the Equinox sustained a minor hand
injury. Rooney declined to release their names as well.
There will be further investigation into the accident, including
inspection of the vehicles and blood alcohol analysis. Rooney could not
say if alcohol was a factor in the accident.
