BRUNSWICK — Two Bowdoin College students have completed a cross-country bicycle ride from Oregon to Maine.

Danielle Willey, of Lewiston, and Amie Corso, of Bend, Ore., hoisted their bikes over their heads in jubilation after reaching the Atlantic Ocean in Brunswick on Saturday.

The pair –  20 and juniors at the college in Brunswick – said they survived hordes of insects, angry truckers and exhaustion in making the two-month journey.

The women told the Sun Journal of Lewiston they made the trek for the experience, to get into shape and to meet people.

The trip started out as with group of five women who attend Bowdoin College, but it broke up when three went in a different direction in Canada to visit family.
