BANGOR — Ideal weather conditions are expected in Maine for three days of continuous music, dance and performing arts at Bangor’s annual American Folk Festival.

The festival kicks off tonight on the Bangor waterfront and continues into Sunday evening.

Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend, with a total of 16 performing groups playing blues, gospel, jazz, bluegrass, Irish and a variety of other styles of music. Admission is free, but organizers ask festival-goers to make a donation to help cover the costs.

The National Weather Service is calling for sunny skies all three days.
