Most Maine state offices closed for shutdown day
AUGUSTA — Thousands of Maine state employees are having an unpaid day off for another state government shutdown day.
Most state offices will be closed today as a cost-saving measure to help balance the budget. They’ll remain closed on on Monday for Labor Day.
Game wardens, state troopers, rangers and others whose jobs are deemed essential are on duty today, and state parks, historic sites and campgrounds will remain open.
Today is the third of 10 state government closure days for the current fiscal year. The next shutdown day is Oct. 8.
