BRUNSWICK — Election Day will resolve two contests for the Town Council and School Board, and four other uncontested local races.

Scott Taylor of High Street is challenging incumbent Town Councilor Margo Knight of Page Street in District 6. School Board incumbent Byron Watson of Beverly Drive is challenged in District 1 by Richard Ellis of Adams Road.

Councilor David Watson of Old Bath Road is running unopposed for re-election to his District 1 seat, Councilor Benjamin Tucker of Maine Street is unopposed for re-election in District 2 seat and Cumberland Street resident Janet Connors is unopposed for re-election to the School Board in District 6.

Marybeth Latti is not seeking re-election to the School Board in District 2, and Brenda Clough of Atwood Lane is running unopposed to replace her.

Taylor is a furniture manufacturer who owns Maine Bunk Beds in Fort Andross, and is president of the NorthWest Brunswick Neighborhood Association. When Taylor lived in Los Angeles he was a member and chairman of the city’s elected Neighborhood Council. He also serves on the executive committee of the Greater Brunswick Special Families support group.

“I like to build communities,” Taylor said on Monday. “Historically I’ve been able to bring different groups of people together for a greater vision” for the community.

Ellis is an online marketing manager for Wright Express, which is based in South Portland. This would be his first foray into serving on a town board. He has one child in Brunswick’s elementary school program and another in the parks and recreation program.

“In looking for ways that I could give back, I thought that (the School Board) would be an appropriate place to do that,” Ellis said, adding that the project and program management experience he has could benefit the town.
