BINGHAM — An 83-year-old Army veteran from Maine is getting some long overdue medals that he earned during World War II but never received.
U.S. Sen. Susan Collins and Maj. Gen. Bill Libby, the head of the Maine Army National Guard, are presenting the medals today to Henry Morrill, who is originally from Parkman. The ceremony is at the Somerset Rehabilitation and Living Center in Bingham where Morrill now lives.
In all, Morrill is getting six awards for the time he served in the war’s Pacific campaign with the 353rd Engineer Construction Battalion.
Collins is also presenting him with a U.S. flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol in Washington in his honor.
