The University of Maine Fantasy Baseball Camp will be held Oct. 8-10. Camp participants receive a Maine jersey, two wood bats, a pair of batting gloves, a fitted Maine baseball hat and polo shirt, a batting jacket, meals for the entire weekend and a one-year membership to the Friends of Maine Baseball Diamond Club. The Maine Games has started an online petition to gauge interest in bringing wrestling back to its lineup for 2011. The event was cancelled in 2008 when high gas prices led to a drop in registration. The Maine Games seeks 300 signatures by Oct. 31. The petition may be signed at www.mainegames.org/bringbackwrestling.php.
The Maine Red Claws will hold an intra-squad scrimmage at Deering High School on Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 and are available by calling 871-7126 or e-mailing DHSButler13@gmail.com. All proceeds from the game will benefit Deering High School athletics.
