YARMOUTH — Safe Passage, a nonprofit organization created to help impoverished at-risk children in Guatemala, is hosting a local, global and virtual 5K race on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The sixth annual Esperanza 5K will take place in Brunswick at Bowdoin College, in Cumberland at Greeley High School, and in South Berwick, Windham and Waterville. There are also races in Boston, Chapel Hill, N.C., Guatemala City and Haarlem, Netherlands.

Racers may also participate anywhere in the world through the event’s virtual race.

Money raised will help provide food, school supplies and teachers’ pay.
