FREEPORT — Two people had to be transported by ambulance tonight to Maine Medical Center in Portland following an accident in the northbound lane of Interstate 295.

A Freeport dispatcher said the single car crash took place around 8 p.m. near the town golf course. The Maine State Police are investigating the accident, but no other details are available at this time.
