SACO – Josh Woodward ran for two touchdowns and threw for a third Saturday to lead Thornton Academy to a 58-0 victory against Noble in a Western Class A football game.

Woodward finished with 100 yards passing, completing 7 of 11 attempts, and carried five times for 91 yards.

After Noble (0-3) snapped the ball through the end zone to open the scoring with a safety in the first quarter, Woodward followed with a 47-yard run for an 8-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Dimitri Skinsacos, Adam LaMontagne and Andrew Libby ran for touchdowns, and James Ek caught a 20-yard pass for a fourth score as the Trojans (3-0) opened a 34-0 halftime lead.

Libby, Woodward and Casey Wiseman added touchdowns in the second half, and the Trojans’ final points came when another ball was snapped through the end zone.

Thornton ran for 345 yards. Wiseman had 85 yards on 14 carries.

CAPE ELIZABETH 34, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Jack McDonald, Derek Roberts and Robbie Martin combined for four touchdowns during a 27-point second-half surge that carried the Capers (3-0) past the Raiders (1-2) at Fryeburg.

Austin Shields made it 7-0 when he returned a 20-yard interception in the second quarter.

LISBON 47, BOOTHBAY REGION 0: Mike McNamara and Zach Splude scored two touchdowns apiece as the Greyhounds (3-0) handled Boothbay Region (0-3) at Lisbon Falls.

McNamara opened the scoring with a 40-yard run on a fake punt. Splude added both of his touchdowns in the first half, along with a 2-yard scoring run by quarterback Luke Caron.

McNamara ended the half by returning an interception 20 yards for a score that gave Lisbon a 33-0 lead.

Tobey Harrington opened the second half with an 80-yard kickoff return. Shaun Avery finished the scoring with a 5-yard run in the third quarter.

Lisbon used nine ball carriers to amass 258 yards on the ground. McNamara had four carries for 58 yards and Carl Sheehan carried seven times for 47 yards. Caron completed 5 of 6 passes for 133 yards.

SOCCER

HALL-DALE 3, GEORGES VALLEY 1: Spencer Shagoury, Ben Crocker and Kurt Thiele scored in the second half as the Bulldogs (3-2) erased a 1-0 deficit and beat Georges Valley (1-4) at Farmingdale.

Zach Plummer added an assist for Hall-Dale.

Drew Townsend scored for Georges Valley.

VINALHAVEN 4, VALLEY 3: Steven Osgood scored a pair of second-half goals to lead the Vikings.

Willie Drury and Bobby Beckman also scored for Vinalhaven. Matt Hunnewell, Carrington Miller and Julian Jackson answered for Valley.

CARRABEC 1, JAY 0: Nathaniel Knox headed the ball in from Morgan Taylor with 15 minutes left in the first half, and the Cobras (2-4) made it stand. Brandon Lehay had four saves for Carrabec.

FRIDAY’S SOCCER

PORTLAND 5, DEERING 2: Portland (3-1-1), the visiting team, fell behind 2-0 but responded with five unanswered goals to defeat Deering (1-3-1).

After Edgar Gonzalez and Charlie Dupee scored to give the Rams their 2-0 lead, Brett O’Kelly scored before the half for the Bulldogs. Tim Rovnak and Fazal Nabi had two goals apiece in the second half for Portland.
