BLANCHARD TOWNSHIP — Maine wardens are investigating an all-terrain vehicle accident in which an ATV fell on top of a woman after she drove the machine off an embankment and fell 25 feet into a small stream.
The Maine Warden Service says the accident happened Saturday night when Jane Grant, a Blanchard Township woman in her mid-50s, was riding with a friend on an ATV trail in Blanchard Township in Piscataquis County.
Grant’s friend, Mike Healey of Marion, Mass., rode to get help, but was later unable to find the crash site.
A search party located Grant shortly after 12:30 a.m. today. Officials say Grant, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor with serious injuries to her head and body.
