LEWISTON — Maine’s top public health official says the state’s schools should give flu shots to students this year and every year.
Dr. Dora Anne Mills of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention says the vaccines will be free to students and staff. The state will not provide schools the money to administer the vaccine.

Mills says vaccine is already being delivered to schools. Deliveries are expected to be completed by early next month.
Mills says that so far, more than 150 schools have signed up to give students flu vaccines.
The Sun Journal says schools in Lewiston and Auburn are among those planning to give the vaccine to students.
