York’s annual Harvestfest brings the usual festival events to the table: live music, crafters, children’s entertainment and, in a nod to the season, pumpkin carving. But they all take a back seat to the main event: the ox roast.

The tradition continued Saturday as staff members from the Stage Neck Inn served the event’s signature sandwiches for an appreciative crowd. If ox meat didn’t do the trick, other food vendors were on hand to offer everything from lobster rolls to fried dough.

Entertainment at Short Sands Beach included the Don Campbell Band, with a powwow scheduled for today featuring drummers, dancers and crafters. The Tuckermans, an a cappella group, and storyteller Shawn Middleton will also perform.

Harvestfest incorporates Kidfest this year, with face painting, balloon twisters and wagon rides to keep the younger set smiling. Pony rides will be offered today as well.
