BANGOR— An Obama administration official is visiting Maine to discuss the new health care overhaul, which is an issue in election campaigns around the country.
Deputy Assistant Secretary on Aging Cindy Padilla will meet with seniors today at Dirigo Pines Retirement Community in Orono. Padilla will be joined by Bill Kassler, chief medical officer for the Region 1 Office of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Democrats have been trying to ease concerns seniors have about health care reforms. Polls show seniors to be disproportionately against Democrats’ health care plans. As a group, seniors are skeptical, vote faithfully and in large numbers, and are keenly aware of how the government’s actions can affect them.
