PORTLAND — Five Maine women have been chosen to compete for a $10,000 grand prize in the second Hood New England Dairy Cook-Off at the Ocean Gateway terminal in Portland on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Amateur home cooks Jessie Grearson of Falmouth, Danica Schroth  of Freeport, Kathleen Joyce of Falmouth, Deborah Frank of Westbrook and Kelly Ann Stanley of Raymond will each cook one dish during the event. They will be competing against home cooks from five other New England states. One winner in each of five categories – breakfast, soup, appetizer, lunch/dinner entree and dessert – will be chosen by a panel of judges.

Then, the five category winners will advance to the finals, where the $10,000 grand prize will be awarded. Last year’s winner was Katherine Stetson, of Bath, N.H., who won with a breakfast recipe for Apple Butter Aebleskivers with Maple Chantilly.
