PORTLAND — The work train has now cleared Congress Street. The delivery of new rails for the expansion of the Amtrak Donwneaster service to Brunswick is now complete and no further traffic delays in Portland are expected.

PORTLAND — The train dropping off replacement railroad rails has arrived at the Congress Street crossing after completing its work in the Woodford’s area.

Crews arrived at the Congress Street crossing near St. John’s Street shortly before 10:30 this morning. Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

The train is part of a project to replace aging rails so passenger trains can run more quickly.

The rails were dropped off in the Woodford’s area between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. The Congress Street crossing is train’s last stop.
