BIDDEFORD – The University of New England advanced to The Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s soccer semifinals Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Salve Regina.

Alice Read had two goals for the fourth-seeded Nor’easters (12-6). Katie Caron added a goal and an assist, and Jesalyn Dvorak had a goal.

Erin McCullough scored for the fifth-seeded Seahawks (10-9), and UNE goalie Jess Woodworth had two saves.

 

KEENE STATE 3, USM 0: Brittany Boscarino had a goal and an assist as Keene State (13-5-2, 5-2-0 Little East) downed Southern Maine (5-14-0, 2-5-0) at Gorham.

Kat Rothe made one save and Katie Cobb handled 11 shots for the Huskies.

FIELD HOCKEY

UNE 3, GORDON 1: The third-seeded Nor’easters (11-6) got second-half goals from Laura Egounis and Bree Tupper to beat the sixth-ranked Fighting Scots (6-14) and advance to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference tournament at Biddeford.

Michaela Franey gave UNE the lead four minutes into the game with a give-and-go pass from Hannah Tavella.

Ayla Nelson made five saves for UNE.

 

USM 1, FITCHBURG STATE 0: Kailey Bubier scored off a pass from Whitney McDaniel in overtime as the Huskies (8-12, 5-6 Little East) edged the Falcons (10-7, 6-5) at Gorham.

Rachel Lolley had three saves for the Huskies, who forced three penalty corners before Bubier’s goal.

 

BOSTON UNIVERSITY 2, MAINE 1: Jacinda McLeod scored off a penalty corner 1:25 into overtime as the Terriers (10-7, 3-2 America East) edged Maine (13-5, 2-3) at Boston.

Kelly Newton gave Maine the lead 33:42 into the first half with her 18th goal of the season.

MEN’S SOCCER

ALBERTUS MAGNUS 2, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Steven Zapata set up both goals with corner kicks as second-seeded Albertus Magnus (15-4-1, 7-2-1 Great Northeast Athletic Conference) stopped seventh-ranked St. Joseph’s (6-11-2, 3-6-1) in a quarterfinal at New Haven, Conn.

Jamal Howard scored in the 21st minute and Rafael Guillen headed in Zapata’s corner kick in the 33rd minute.

Nick Campasano stopped nine shots for the Monks.

 

KEENE STATE 4, USM 1: The Owls (12-4-2, 6-0-1 Little East) got goals by Tom Izykowski, Brian Holmes, Nick Greenwood and Matt Johnson to defeat the Huskies (4-12-2, 3-4) at Keene, N.H.

Nick Johnson scored on a header to give USM an early lead.
