Traffic is flowing smoothly again on the Maine Turnpike after a tractor trailer loaded with oxygen caught on fire, just north of the Gray exit.

No injuries were reported, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.

The fire was reported before 2 p.m., prompting officials to close the northbound side of the highway near mile 63 and divert traffic.

It’s possible that a tire may have caught on fire, according to Bruce Pelletier, a turnpike spokesman. The Gray Fire Department responded.

“They got the fire out pretty quick,” he said.
