NORWAY — A Maine fire chief says one of his firefighters suffered minor injuries battling a blaze that destroyed a home in the town of Norway.

Norway Fire Chief Dennis Yates says about 30 firefighters from five area departments fought the quick moving fire that gutted a two-story wood-frame house. The fire was reported about 4 p.m. Monday.

A woman in the house when the fire started escaped safely along with the family dog.

Yates tells the Sun Journal newspaper the injured firefighter, whose name was not released, was treated for a leg injury at a hospital and later released.

There’s no immediate word on what caused the fire.
