PORTLAND — A former Maine teacher convicted of transporting a minor across state lines with the intent of engaging in sexual activity is going to spend 12 years in federal prison.

The sentence was imposed on 29-year-old James Raymond today in U.S. District Court in Portland.

Raymond was accused of taking an 11-year-old girl to a New Hampshire amusement park and inappropriately touching her for sexual gratification.

In 2008, the former music teacher from Auburn was found guilty of five charges of unlawful sexual touching and three counts of assault involving former students.
