ORONO — Police say a freshman running back from the University of Maine is accused of punching two women after exchanging words at a party in Orono.
Orono Police Sgt. Josh Ewing says David Hood of Galloway, N.J., was charged Tuesday with two counts of assault after an investigation into the weekend incident. A UMaine spokesman says Hood has been suspended from the team, and could face further sanctions under the student conduct code.
There’s no telephone listing for Hood.
Ewing says the 18-year-old Hood and a group of friends exchanged words with the women at the party. He says the women reported being punched after a second confrontation outside as they were leaving.
