THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND will honor veterans during a ceremony at noon on the front lawn of Hersey Hall on the Portland campus.

THE SOUTH PORTLAND War Veterans Memorial Association will host a parade starting at 10 a.m. at Southern Maine Community College, continuing down Broadway to American Legion Post No. 35, where there will be a short memorial service.

THE HISTORICAL SOCIETY of Newfield will host a Veterans Day program starting at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Monument in front of the town offices. Speakers will include state Sen. Richard Nass and Rep. Jim Campbell, Hazel McGlincey and Russell Day.

PORTLAND WILL HOST a Veterans Day Parade, starting at 10:30 a.m. from Longfellow Square and continuing to City Hall, where ceremonies will be held.

SPACE GALLERY in Portland will host a Draw-a-Thon from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., inviting artists to stop in and draw about bringing war money home. For more information, visit www.mainedrawathon. blogspot.com.

THE BIDDEFORD/SACO Twin Cities Veterans Council will host a parade starting at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Main and Beach streets in Saco. The parade will continue down Main Street and into Biddeford, concluding with a ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park.

THE OWLS HEAD Transportation Museum will offer free admission to all veterans of the armed services throughout the day. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $10 for non-veterans or free for children under 18.

FRIDAY

THE COMMITTEE TO HONOR Maine Women Veterans is working with the Maine Mall to raise awareness and honor female veterans with a bronze memorial plaque. The committee will be at the Garden Court in the mall from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., promoting the memorial and providing information on important services for Maine’s female veterans.
