JONESPORT  — Maine State Police say a Jonesport man missing for nearly a week has been located — on the other side of the country.

Police say 26-year-old Robert “Rob” Leighton called from California to tell his family that he was safe.

Family members were worried because Leighton left the home after an argument, and had been drinking. He was last seen Saturday morning walking on Indian River Road.

Police quoted family members as saying Leighton told them in a collect call that he traveled to Santa Ana, Calif., on a Greyhound bus.
