PORTLAND — Portland police have issued a court summons to a 30-year-old for allegedly smashing Old Port windows with a brick.
Police were called to the corner of Moulton and Fore streets at 1:20 a.m. and found witnesses pointing out Thomas Coolbirth, who they said had broken windows at nearby businesses.
Coolbirth, of Portland, is charged with criminal mischief for allegedly breaking windows at Merrill Lynch at 145 Commercial St. and Communiques at 3 Moulton St.
Coolbirth has not been charged in connection with other recent reports of broken windows in that area, police said.
In an apparently unrelated case, police are investigating a string of vandalism incident that involved breaking car windshields on Munjoy Hill. The damage was discovered this morning, police said.
