GORHAM – Sean Bergeron scored 18 points, and Otis Smith had 15 points and 11 rebounds to help the University of Southern Maine to a season-opening 85-74 men’s basketball win over the University of New England.
Cortez Isaac added nine points, nine rebounds, six assists and four steals for the Huskies, who led 37-26 at halftime. Leif O’Connell scored 13 points and Alex Kee chipped in 10.
The Nor’easters were led by Marcus Winn with 24 points. Ryan Knotek added 13 points and nine rebounds, and Jordan Stinglen also scored 13.
