PORTLAND — Using a towering yellow crane, workers were putting the finishing touches on the 50-foot Christmas tree in Monument Square this morning.

The tree, a Colorado blue spruce donated by a family in Portland, will be lit during the annual tree lighting ceremony next Friday, Nov. 26, at 5:30 p.m. The tree’s 1,500 LED lights were donated by Efficiency Maine.

In addition to the tree lighting, there will be entertainment by Rick Charette and the Bubblegum Band and the Maine State Ballet. The event will be produced by Portland’s Downtown District.

Keeley Crane Services and Shaw Brothers Construction donated the truck to deliver the tree to monument square and the crane to erect it.
