LONDON – Now it’s all about the details: The dress, the date, the venue — and who’s going to pay.
Prince William and Kate Middleton sat down with advisers Wednesday to begin planning the royal wedding that some Britons have waited years to see — and the British media settled in for months of juicy speculation.
The second in line to the throne and his long-term girlfriend will marry next spring or summer, but they haven’t announced a date or a venue.
Westminster Abbey or St. Paul’s Cathedral, where William’s parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, married in 1981, are considered the front-runners.
A royal spokesman said the couple “spent the morning in meetings with household staff about the wedding” and would be closely involved in organizing all the details.
It was too early to estimate its cost or how much the taxpayers will have to put up — a touchy issue at a time of budget cuts and austerity measures across Britain.
The spokesman for William’s office stressed that the wedding would not be a state occasion because William is not the sovereign or the heir to the throne, but “given his seniority, you can expect formal or ceremonial elements.”
Pink is pregnant, and it was not an ‘oops’
NEW YORK – Pop star Pink says she’s eating for two.
The Grammy-winning singer confirmed her pregnancy Wednesday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.” It’s the first child for Pink and her motocross-racing husband, Carey Hart.
Pink told DeGeneres that it’s a pregnancy she worked for, explaining “It was not an ‘oops!’ “
Although she isn’t sure if the child is a boy or a girl, she says her doctor is hinting it’s a girl. She did not specify a due date during her appearance.
DeGeneres presented the 31-year-old mom-to-be with a personalized baby’s onesie and a kid-sized motocross bike.
Desperate housewife, hoop star splitting up
LOS ANGELES – Eva Longoria filed court papers Wednesday to divorce basketball star Tony Parker, citing irreconcilable differences.
Longoria, a star of TV’s “Desperate Housewives,” and Parker, an NBA All-Star with the San Antonio Spurs, were married July 7, 2007. They have no children together.
In the filing, Longoria asked that her name be restored to Eva Jacqueline Longoria. The filing also stated the couple had a prenuptial agreement, but no details were provided.
Boss hops on bandwagon
NEW YORK – If you needed any more proof that Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” is the sensation of the moment, look no further: The Boss has performed his own version of it.
The moment came Tuesday during a skit on “Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.” Springsteen came out wearing sunglasses and a fake beard, and chimed in with an acoustic version of the song in a slow growl.
“Whip My Hair” is the debut song from 9-year-old Willow. She’s the daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.
