MILTON, Mass. – Allie Parent’s layup with 13 seconds remaining in the second overtime lifted St. Joseph’s to an 81-80 victory over UMass-Dartmouth in the Curry College Tipoff Tournament Friday night.

The Monks (1-1) led 64-61 after Mackenzie Dufour made a pair of free throws with 54 seconds remaining in regulation, but Erika Bornemann converted a three-point play for the Corsairs (0-2) in the closing seconds.

The Monks forced a second OT on Megan McDevitt’s 3-pointer and a layup by Parent.

Danyelle Shufelt paced St. Joseph’s with 16 points.

USM 88, UM-FARMINGTON 51: Lauren Rousseau had 13 points and Courtney Cochran scored 11 points to lead the Huskies (1-1) past the Beavers (0-1) in the USM Tip-off Classic in Gorham.

USM outscored the Beavers 14-6 to close out the first half and take a 42-28 lead.

Ashley Busque and Kenni Norton each had 11 points for UMF.

MAINE 74, BRYANT 66: Katelyn Vanderhoff’s jumper with 5:43 to play gave Maine a 66-64 lead as the Black Bears (1-1) climbed back from a nine-point halftime deficit to beat Bryant (0-3) at Smithfield, R.I.

Amber Smith scored 22 points, Samantha Wheeler added 16 and Ashleigh Roberts and Vanderhoff each scored 12 for Maine.

MANHATTANVILLE 66, BOWDOIN 62: The Valiants (1-1) rallied from a 59-51 deficit in the final four minutes to beat the Polar Bears (0-1) in the Salem State Tipoff at Salem, Mass.

Jill Henrickson had 17 points to lead Bowdoin and Kaitlin Donahoe scored 11.

BATES 74, BABSON 60: Brian Ellis scored 23 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to lead the Bobcats to a season-opening win over Babson (1-1) at the Chuck Resler Invitational at Rochester, N.Y.

Alex Gallant added 18 points and Mark Brust 14 for Bates.

BOWDOIN 66, SPRINGFIELD 54: Ryan O’Connell scored 20 points and Bowdoin (1-0) held Springfield to 34 percent shooting in the second half to beat the Pride (0-2) in the RWU/Courtyard by Marriott Tipoff at Bristol, R.I.

Will Hanley had 16 points with seven rebounds for Bowdoin.

CURRY 73, COLBY 71: Jarrell Jackson made a layup with 5.7 seconds left to lift Curry (1-1) past Colby (0-1) in the Brandeis Classic at Waltham, Mass.

Mike Russell had 22 points on 10-of-15 shooting for the Mules, including a basket that gave Colby a 71-70 lead with 1:18 to play. He also had 15 rebounds and four assists.

MAINE 95, UM-MACHIAS 44: Murphy Burnatowski scored 17 points and Sean McNally and Gerald McLemore had 13 apiece as Maine (2-1) coasted to a victory over Machias (3-2) at Orono.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

NEC 3, USM 1: Sam Hippern scored the tying and winning goals as New England College (2-3, 2-1 ECAC East) overcame a one-goal deficit to defeat Southern Maine (1-2-1, 1-2-1) at Henniker, N.H.

The Huskies took a 1-0 lead at 7:48 of the first period on a power-play goal by Katie Paradis.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BABSON 6, USM 2: The Purple Knights scored four times in the second period, including two within a span of 15 seconds, to pull away from the Huskies in an ECAC East season opener at South Burlington, Vt.

Dustin Rider and Paul Conter scored for USM.

BOWDOIN 5, UMASS-BOSTON 4: Kyle Shearer-Hardy scored 2:10 into overtime as the Polar Bears (1-0) got past the Beacons (0-1) at Brunswick.

NORWICH 8, UNE 0: Scott Schroeder and Travis Jenke each had two goals to lead the Cadets (1-0) past the Nor’easters (0-1) at Northfield, Vt.

UNE goalie Mike Roper made 47 saves.

BABSON 5, COLBY 4: The Beavers (1-0) held on to beat the Mules (0-1) despite third-period goals by Wil Hartigan, Scott Harff and Mike Doherty.
