CONWAY, N.H. — New Hampshire’s first mountain coaster is holding its grand opening.
The Cranmore Mountain Coaster in North Conway is celebrating its opening today.
The ride features two-person sleds that ride on stainless steel tubular rails down the slopes of Cranmore Mountain. Each sled has its own handbrakes, and the rider is in control of his or her speed.
The Conway Daily Sun reports the sled takes riders up the 1,200-foot mountain before the descent.
The coaster will operate year-round in nearly all weather. It’s part of $6 million in improvements at the Cranmore Mountain Resort, which include a new quad chairlift and an expanded snow-tubing park.
