Scarborough
LAST SEASON: 12-7, West semifinalist
OUTLOOK: The Red Storm graduated two dangerous forwards, but Scarborough has a solid core, featuring the region’s best player in Abby Rutt, and a talented freshmen class that could make the Red Storm the team to beat in the West.
York
LAST SEASON: 14-6, West semifinalist
OUTLOOK: The Wildcats feature few standouts, but will keep sending players out on the ice. York’s depth will keep it competitive. Defenseman and captain Hannah Keating and sophomore goalie Olivia Drew return to anchor the defense.
Biddeford
LAST SEASON: 11-8, West playoff team
OUTLOOK: The Tigers lost some skill players and will be breaking in a new goalie, but Coach Marie Potvin has numbers and the team will improve. Forwards Haley Reny and Jenna Roy will lead on offense, Kellie Renk on defense.
Cheverus
LAST SEASON: 21-0, state champion
OUTLOOK: The Stags were senior-heavy and unbeatable last year. This season, Cheverus has remnants from that team, including forwards Emily Sawchuck and Anna McDonough, and defenseman Sarah LaQuerre. The Stags could gel by the end.
Greely
LAST SEASON: 8-10
OUTLOOK: The Rangers lost 11 seniors but still return 16 players, including four All-East selections (Casey Benner, Michaela Finnegan, Paige Tuller and Ceci Hodgkins). Nate Guerin slides in as head coach after being the Rangers’ assistant.
