The Cape Neddick Light, fondly known as Nubble Light, failed to sparkle in holiday colors, as planned, on Saturday because of an electrical problem.

York officials planned to hook things up — they think winds may have caused a disconnection — and light the festooned lighthouse today.

The traditional lighting event drew a festive crowd to York on Saturday to hear musical performances and enjoy free hot chocolate provided by local volunteers.

The United Divers of New Hampshire managed to raise a decorated Christmas tree from the ocean, a presentation that has become one of the event’s unofficial traditions.

And the big bright spot for the children was a visit from Santa.
