ROCKLAND — A 35-year-old Maine man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend in Rockland was once convicted of domestic abuse and was subject of several protection orders.

Arnold Diana of Rockland, who was due in court today, was charged Saturday night with killing 47-year-old Katrina Windred, of Friendship.

The Bangor Daily News says he was subject of three protection orders since 2008, and that he was once convicted of domestic violence assault with another girlfriend.

Windfred was found dead last Tuesday, two days after she was reported missing. Her cause of death has not yet been released. Friends who gathered at a vigil for Windred on Friday said she had inspired them by battling cancer and would do anything for her young son.
